If It's Broken - Fix It!

Here's an article I came across that fits with the theme of this blog. Take a read:

How Can ESPN Fix MNF

Whether you agree with this writer's solution or not word of MNF's suckage is starting to spread.

Thanks for starting this blog.

Why does ESPN think they need three people in the booth? CBS, FOX and NBC especially show that two is enough.
Mike Tirico is decent enough when he can stick to football.
Ron Jaworski knows the game but seems unprepared to analyze the game as it happens. He was very good Game Day broadcasts because he had days to prepare for show. It's a different animal trying to break down plays within seconds of their occurence.
That brings me to Tony Kornheiser. I liked him on The Sports Reporters, but he just has no business doing a live game. His expertise (if he actually has any) is more sports in general and his lack of football knowledge is evident every time he opens his mouth.
It's too bad that Michaels and Madden were allowed to jump ship to NBC at the start of the new NFL TV contract. I'm sure Dick Ebersol could have found another high-quality team for Sunday night and Al and John could have moved from ABC to ESPN easily because they are both owned by the same corporation after all.

I used to have issues with Madden. I thought he talked too much about small insignificant football details. But watching Sunday Night Football now I can see I was being too picky and in fact he and Michaels are a very good team.

I am not sure if anyone will agree with me but I like Phil Simms as a broadcaster a lot. I really enjoy his view on the game and when he is slated for one of the games I watch on the weekend I find I enjoy it a lot more.

I will never forget the MNF game where Madden would not shut up about the kicker who kept a candy bar in his shoe (the shoe he wasn't wearing). I didn't think anything could be more annoying than that ~ until I heard Kornheiser. Now every Monday I wish for John and Al back. Fortunately for me, I no longer have cable at home so I watch MNF in a noisy bar where you can only hear the commentators if you really try to...which I don't!

I agree with the first comment posted here ~ I've never seen a need for 3 people in the booth, and more than one on the field is ridiculous. Bring back Swanny!!!
